About

Mission Language Prep is for missionaries preparing to serve in Japanese, and for those who have come home and don't want to lose what they worked for. It teaches the Japanese of the work: the words of the lessons and scriptures, alongside the everyday language that carries them.

What's inside

  • Hiragana and katakana charts with animated stroke order and native audio.
  • All 2,136 Jōyō kanji with meanings, every reading, animated stroke order, and the words you'll meet them in.
  • Tens of thousands of vocabulary words ordered by usefulness, drawn from Preach My Gospel, the Guide to the Scriptures, JLPT lists, and corpus frequency, with example sentences.
  • Flashcards scheduled by FSRS, a modern spaced repetition algorithm that adapts to how well you remember each card.

How it's offered

The kana, the first 80 words, and the first-grade kanji are free, with no account needed. A subscription keeps your progress on every device and unlocks everything else; a gift covers a whole mission for someone preparing to serve. See pricing.
