Hiragana ひらがな
Hiragana is the foundation of written Japanese — one symbol per sound. Learn the chart, tap any character for detail, then quiz yourself until the shapes feel familiar. After this, Flashcards vocabulary becomes much easier.
Character chart
The gojūon (五十音) — five vowels across, consonant rows down. Read each cell as consonant + vowel (except the first row).

Master あ–お, then か–こ. Don’t rush the full chart on day one.

Read both directions
Kana → sound and sound → kana. The quiz mode trains recognition.
